There is a big scope and opportunities in terms of using innovative tools and platforms to deliver and monitor the progress of students, applying new methods of evaluating learner’s performance, especially when it comes to MOOCs, where there is a big number of participants, but low rate of completion. For instance, XuetangX (expert’s presentation) uses WeChat to follow up with the students about their performance, pending modules to be completed, deadlines, new courses, etc. This innovative method has allowed to increase the rate of completion for MOOCs significantly.   There is also an opportunity to increase the number of students in online education by offering in more languages.

It was also mentioned that it is important to provide courses that are designed for everyone from children to the elderly. At the same time, there is a need to provide more tailored to the target audience and particular skills-oriented courses.
