Alzheimer disease (AD) has various symptoms, in this project the team is focusing on: sleep disturbance, confusion, and disorientation, which might lead to wandering. Taking into consideration all of these symptoms, wandering during the night time can be dangerous and has its physical risks, noting that epidemiological studies have reported that up to 45% of patients with AD have sleep disturbances. It also incites us to acknowledge the importance of the well-being of the caregiver. Our device will support the caregiver regarding multiple aspects. To reduce risks of wandering patients several tracking and location devices already exist. Nevertheless, devices barely address the risk of wandering at night. At a time when caregiver might also not be in local proximity. Therefore, we designed a device which tracks the patient during night. The tracking sensors will communicate with an app, which can start customized devices to calm the patient (music) and to notify the caregiver, if the patient starts wandering.
