Here is the project of Baptiste Guardin, Antoine Ribault, Myungseok LEE and Pierre Verrier : Trying to find solutions for prevent young people smoking.
Here is the place where we report every things we are doing each weeks.
19/03 : _Creation of the SDG in progress file and first research :
Problem : Tobacco
How to prevent young people in middle school/highschool of smoking ?
Why do they start smoking ?
- Parents influence
According to some studies, a parent's choice to smoke can more than double the odds that the child will smoke
- Social acceptance :
Not being exclude from groups = peer pressure
- Looking badass/cool :
Get attention by looking different from others
- FIlms influence :
smoking is considered as an act of elegance and sophistication (Celebrity influence )
- Risk taking behavior:
It’s tempting for young people to break the rules
- Cope with stress
Why do they keep smoking ?
- Some people fear gaining weight after quitting:
What are the side effects of smoking ?
- By 1964, it was official: The U.S. Surgeon General confirmed that cigarette smoking causes lung cancer.
This it what it does to the mouth, throat and lungs, not to mention how it compromises all the systems in your body to try to tell you to quit and stop killing yourself slowly.

Already existing solutions :
The first idea of this project is to distress people and capture the attention, instead of cigarette.
We are trying to develop something which can be easy and nice to move with your hands. The object must be the perfect middle between puzzles and antidepressant.
We also want to design it strong and small, so that you can carry it everywhere and all the time with you.
We saw that nowadays more than 1 billion people are smoking quite often.
And so we have tried to understand why people was smoking (how they began and why are they keep doing it).
And one reason that seemed interesting for us was the stress.
In fact, we told ourselves that if we could find something wich could destress people without being dangerous for our health, it could maybe replace the cigarette.
We now are trying to develop different prototypes of puzzles, and understand wich ones are the most intuitive and easy to move.
The idea is not only to create little puzzles, they also have to be smoothy movable and used just as against stress objects.
They will have to be small and light, so that we can always have it with us.
