We want to provide access to primary and secondary data to the entrepreneurs involved in Agro-Processing industries. The data provided will be focusing on different areas of agriculture that entrepreneurs need especially when they are starting businesses
Imboni Project is a team of three Rwandan who are championing to enhance the value of the access and availability of data in the agribusiness in Rwanda, East Africa and across Africa at large. We envision to help agri-preneurs take decisions and policies based on the concrete and actual data to stimulate their success.
When we were conducting our research, we were focusing on the following hypothesis:
After thorough research on data access in Africa especially in East Africa, we found that it is difficult to get access to data in Africa as well as different institutions are likely to impose security on the data they have and other people like researchers, academician keeps their data on their laptops, books etc.
In the agriculture sector, which is the most leading economic sector in Africa, we found that there is limited access to accurate and reliable data relating to the weather, soil, harvest, market prices and many more. Interestingly, the young generation is on a rage in agribusiness but faces the problem of conducting the primary data to first understand the environment before making decisions and policies. Some rely on the secondary data that they find on the internet but you will find that those data are outdated.
To understand the problem, tried to answer the following questions
African entrepreneurs especially those based in agriculture(Agribusiness) lack accurate and reliable data and information before starting their business which affects their success (including profit loss of up to 20% due to inaccurate policies and decisions made without data and concrete information to back.
2. Who is harmed?
Entrepreneurs involved in Agriculture, farmers and customers whose decisions and policies of the entrepreneurs are going to be taken for.
3. What are the causes?.
-Bureaucracies and difficulties in conducting extensive primary research: Many entrepreneurs find it hard to conduct primary research extensively at their start due to that it is expensive and time-consuming
-There is not an open data platform to offer the data service available.
-Some use data from sources which are not reliable or outdated.
-Some institutions and private sectors impose security on their data which make it difficult to access them.

Alice is a young entrepreneur in Agro-processing who is based in Musanze, Rwanda. In 2018, when she was starting his business facing multiple challenges through her ideation and development which still affect her in decisions making. As a young entrepreneur with limited capital faced a challenge of getting primary data. She could take a week of travelling to the community and gather information or stay in her office waiting for a response from authorities on the requested information.
Later on, she decided to start but she had insufficient data which made her not understand her customers and the sector. Consequently, she encountered 100000 Rwf net loss.
With the advancement in digital and technology, she wishes to get an easy way to connect her to the data and build a relationship with her customers(Farmers).
So, after analyizing the our perfect user(the person)
We identified the following problem:
After understanding the problem, we came up with the following solution:
Integrated web app that connected with USSD Codes.
Daily information such as Harvest and price projections.
24/7 Desk support to track Agro-processing enterprises
At the beginning, we will be providing data on the following areas
MARKET TARGET PROJECTIONS
Our goals are:
Become intermediary between Agro Processing entrepreneurs and the Government institutions, hence reducing 14 hours to a minimum of 2 hours to get primary data.
Save a minimum of 3000 Rwf that Agro Processing entrepreneurs spend in Primary data collection.
To carry on our project we need the following resources which are categorised in three categories:
To achieve our success we will use the following techniques
What kind of data needed
The gap which was there under lack of data
Suggestion / comment / Question before getting datas.
