We are a team of 5 students and we would like to improve, in our way, lifes of people who are suffering from tremors such as Parkinson's disease. This device in divided in 2 components. The first one is a vibrating motor and it will give an answer to tremors, and the hand will be more stable. The second component is a movino, who will ajust vibrations depending on brain's answers.

We are 5 students in completely different fields ! It may be one of our strength, who nows ?
Why did we decided to work on this project ?
First of all, we think this watch is a rewarding project. Indeed, it is a non-invasive devise who can help people with Parkinson's disease by reducing sides effects of drugs. This is also a big challenge with a lot of work : we are motivated and we really want to invest ourselves ! Finally, it's a great opportunity to learn news things ! Between coding and electronics, we will finish this programm with more knowledge, which is already a nice victory.
Nowadays, it's commun to see connected watches, and they are not longer limited to the time display ! They can measure heartbeat, tension... so why can't they reduce hand's tremors ?
This project was initiated by Haiyan Zhang, a scientist from Microsoft, in 2016. This device was created to help Emma Lawton, a young graphic designer who was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease at the age of 29. Haiyan Zhang decided to create the Emma Watch, a device who includes a rythmic vibration effect through small motors. This project was initially supposed to be opensource, but Microsoft decided to pursue reaserch exploration in order to commercialize the final product.
Since then, two members on the CRI (Interdisciplinary Research Center), Kevin Lhoste and Vladimir Hermand, decided to pursue this project. We have decided to work with them in order to create a watch composed with frugal components.
One of the most important step is to talk with people who may be concerned about our project ! Our audience is the PD patients showing hand tremors. We need to know better about their daily life with the disease, we need to understand the disease though their experience. It's also very interesting to contact patients from different places around the world. We will also contact professionals in the area, as they represent a bridge between us (and our watch) and the patients, in order to make it accessible to the patients.

Because of the health crisis, it's a little bit more complicated to reach people with Parkinson's disease. We asked our entourage if they knew people with the disease, we contacted associations... We are still working on it for the moment, but we have for now one interview already.
Defining our problem :
Parkinson disease (PD) is a neuropathological disease and more than 10 million people worldwide are living with PD. Tremors are one of the most characteristic manifestations of Parkinson disease (PD) occurs in approximately 75% of patients.
People living with hand tremors are experiencing difficulties in their daily lives. Available medical treatments are only symptomatics and cause several side effects.
Our goal :
Help these patients to overcome their hand tremor by creating a frugal medical equipment called tremor watch. In order to try to reduce the tremors, with and non invasive manner, and without the use of drugs. This watch will use vibrations to absorb the tremors, and an haptic feedback in order to have a control on the tremors.
This watch will fight against the tremor using vibrational stimuli to the hand. It is composed of two main components. The first one contains vibrating motors that will be implanted in the bracelet of the watch. The second component is called the Movino it contains an electronic circuit including and arduino and an accelerometer, Movino is able to monitor the tremor by measuring the acceleration ( or the vibration ) of the hand. The Movino will be placed in the core of the watch. The motors and the Movino work together by this way : the vibration may reduce the tremor but only temporally, because as we are sending a specific pattern of vibration ( by activating motor 1 and motor 2 and letting motor 3 off , for instance), the Brain will easily adapt this pattern, thus the vibration won’t be efficient anymore and the tremor will start again. Well Movino is here to survey if the tremors are back, and they are back arduino will activate another pattern of vibration in order to reduce the tremor again. And this will continue to happen as a loop.
This week we have also worked on designing our product. Designing is very important for presentation of the product and the project. we have made a bracelet of the tremor watch.
First of all we made a sketch with the help of an application names "Fusion Autodesk 360°". We make sure that the size of the bracelet is accurate for the motor and for a human hand. We also paid attention that it has to be presentable and fancy. After creating the sketch we printed the bracelet with the help of a 3D printer.
This week, much of our work is about programming. It is very important because that allows us to complete multiple tasks in order to develop our first prototype.
First of all, we did collect acceleration data with the movuino. It is a motinor and it can collect acceleration data during a wrist's movement.
Then we had to create some programs (python and arduino languages) in order to build an algorithm for score attribution. Basically, this score measures the level of tremors in the hand, and we have to give an adapted answer (a correct pattern of vibrations, that we had to code too) to reduce hand tremors. We also did a simulation on arduino : simulate vibrational patterns and score attribution.
When i came to the design we have to be very representative. The design leads us to have our first impression of the public .
We have created a box for putting the monitor (mouvino device) , the battery and the . We make sure it contains 2 holes the one for the charger and the second is for the start button. It will contains the whole data of thepatient.
