Survival on Earth is not possible without water as it helps unite living environments (land, oceans, and the atmosphere) into an integrated system. Ensuring there is sufficient water to sustain all living things on the planet means it is necessary to learn how humans manage water. Decisions being made today, regarding the management of water resources, will profoundly affect our economic and environmental future. Climate change is limiting the availability of clean water. Conversely, good water-oriented strategies can result in significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, which could be monitored as a carbon footprint. It has been mentioned in several academic studies that the carbon footprint of our water use is growing. Hence, determining water consumption and converting this into a carbon footprint is important to evaluate each person’s daily behaviour on the influence of the water environment and climate change. This is our group’s main idea, and is our research field that focuses on China.
