The tool can take the shape of an online calculator, or maybe be implemented as an open API, to increase versatility.

We’ll measure the emissions as kg of CO2/ per conference/ person. Depending on the location and the source of energy, this might change drastically.

We are going to cut the project in two parts, the first one being centered on the calculation of CO2 for a specific setup/device, which will be opaque to the end user, and the second, which focuses on the service and UI.

Our generation has to make a move to aware the previous and the next ones of the impact they have on their daily tasks. How a small change a company can do, by imposing remote meetings instead of being in person can have a huge positive impact on the planet

During the Covid pandemic, the need for remote meetings and communication has proven being hugely important, and is intrinsically tied to climate change and its issues. Now is the time to use the digital technologies and the open paradigm to make a positive and efficient change.

Until now, no tool were efficient and ergonomic enough to incite people to use such a calculator.
This project aim to make this kind of tool more easily accessible.

Computer scientists and developers with some mathematical knowledge as well as open data bases that can be used in the calculator. IT infrastructures such as servers, frameworks and libraries.

Releasing a beta version of the tool based on the current calculator code to test and evaluate the quality and accuracy of the results.
Later on, to consult on travel policies to assess the calculation criteria more accurately, and to look for potential collaboration / partners.

Advertisement in universities or a pop up window before starting a remote meeting with an app.
Conferences in companies to promote the usefulness of the project, creation of a site/ web app. Promotion as an educational tool in schools.
